It’s more than a running group…
We are a team of spirited women who have taken the challenge to get off the couch and train for a half-marathon. Crossing the finish line is so much more than the achievement of a 13.1 mile distance run. What we get is an incredible sense of personal empowerment that carries over into all aspects of our lives. What we find from training together is community, support, encouragement, motivation, accountability, and so much more. We come from all walks of life. Age doesn’t matter; Body size makes no difference. We train together, and we share in the milestones that we achieve all along the way. From a one minute shuffle run to a distance of 13.1 miles, together, we are athletes!
Florida is the 3rd largest area in our country for commercial sex trade. Each year, as many as 300,000 children in the U.S. alone are victims of sex predators seeking financial profit from their exploitations. The average age of the girls whose lives have been turned upside down by human sex trafficking is 12 years old. The Porch Light is a ministry of the Florida Baptist Children’s Home and offers “Safe Homes” that serve to rescue young girls and restore them physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The Florida Baptist Children’s Homes has a 109-year successful track record of making a significant difference in the lives of children, and continue to do so through the Porch Light Safe Homes. A portion of all proceeds raised by the FAB 50 will be donated to helping this ministry. For more information, visit their website at and learn how you too can help to support this cause.
